Bariatric Surgery

At Nutrition to Nourish we understand that the decision to undergo weight loss surgery no matter which one that is can be overwhelming. Whether it be your first or even a revisional surgery. For some we understand that you can have tried so many diet’s already and feel like you have failed so often that you can feel embarrassed.
That’s why we are here to listen and help you feel at ease and make the process as smooth as possible. We know everyone is different and will require unique support , guidance and education. Not just around food but lifestyle and psychological changes to help you make the most of your outcomes post operatively. Our team of qualified bariatric dietitians have extensive experience and work in rooms with the Riverina Bariatrics surgeons, nurses and bariatric physician providing a wealth of experience and knowledge
Pre-Bariatric Surgery Nutrition Support
Our dietitians work with you before surgery to educate you on your tailored pre operative meal replacement diet. This is done prior to bariatric surgery predominantly because it has been shown to result in a reduction of liver size, making the bariatric surgery easier for your surgeon and a safer procedure which you will recover from more quickly afterward.
We will also educate you on the phases of diet progressions you will need to follow after the procedure. This includes providing information on the appropriate types of foods to eat, recipes, helping with suggestions and plans to meet your protein requirements and the appropriate supplements to take. This way, you will be prepared and well-informed prior to your weight loss surgery.

Post-Bariatric Surgery Dietary Assistance
After weight loss surgery, our dietitians work closely with you to give personalised education and support that will help you achieve your weight loss goals while ensuring that you are getting the essential nutrients you need to stay healthy and have the energy to go about your daily life.
Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to make healthy choices, both food and lifestyle and ultimately improve your overall health, physically and mentally as the long term goal
Long-Term Bariatric Support
We understand that obesity is a chronic condition. Long-term support is essential for maintaining weight loss. We will follow you up regularly in the first 12 months post surgery to ensure you have support required so you have the best chance to meet your goals. Then we hope to see you every 6-12 months or as required to maintain your nutritional and lifestyle changes.
We also know maintenance of change can be hard! Whether this be weight or lifestyle change maintenance. If you need to come back after 2 or 5 or even 10 years, we understand and want to help you get back on track. Don’t be embarrassed or think this is a failure, we know it is hard.
